What is critical that you understand is that <strong>these vitamins, fatty acids, and minerals work together.&nbsp;</strong> They don’t work in isolation.&nbsp; So you need to get them all in your diet to create the anti-acne effects we are shooting for.&nbsp; Please re-read that.&nbsp; It’s important…<br />

To summarize…<br />
<br />
You need the following foods and nutrients daily:<br />
<ul>
  <li>Vitamin A (cod liver oil, and grass-fed butter)<br />
    <br />
  </li>
  <li>Zinc (zinc monomethionate)<br />
    <br />
  </li>
  <li>Vitamin E (red palm oil, wheat germ oil)<br />
    <br />
  </li>
  <li>Magnesium (green leafy vegetables, effervescent magnesium supplements)<br />
    <br />
  </li>
  <li>GLA (primrose oil, borage oil, grass-fed butter)</li>
</ul>
<p>The best way to make this work is to add them to foods.&nbsp; However cod liver oil should NOT be added to any hot foods.&nbsp; This is because the heat will oxidize the oil. &nbsp;<br />
  <br />
  Cod liver oil can be added on top of salads, in raw yogurt, in raw kefir, in low sugar smoothies (avoid fruit juice smoothies at all costs… they will aggravate your acne… we will cover why in later reports).<br />
  <br />
  You can also take it straight.&nbsp; If you get quality, non-rancid EFAs it should taste just fine.&nbsp; Take 1-2 tablespoons per day.&nbsp; Split up your dose 2 times a day for best absorption.<br />
  <br />
  Butter should be an easy one for you.&nbsp; Add it to foods.&nbsp; Use it as a spread.&nbsp; But avoid eating too much bread and butter for reason I’ll cover later.&nbsp; I personally like to add it to soups.<br />
  <br />
  Just be sure to keep a rough track of your butter dose so you know you’re getting a consistent amount daily.<br />
  <br />
  Some evidence suggests that cod liver oil and butter work synergistically together.&nbsp; In other words you’ll get a greater benefit taking them together then separately.<br />
  <br />
I believe this to be the case, but I need to do more research to confirm it.<br />
<br />
I would suggest give it a try.&nbsp; Eat them together or in proximity to each other if you can.&nbsp; But don’t add cod liver oil to piping hot foods (nothing hotter then body temperature).<br />
<br />
Red palm oil has a strong flavor.&nbsp; I use it as a spread, bake with it, add it to soups, or even add it to tea. Again just be sure you are getting a consistent dose.&nbsp; Measure and keep track of your dose.<br />
<br />
Zinc should generally be taken with food.&nbsp; It is best if you split up your dose 2 times a day.<br />
<br />
Take your effervescent magnesium on an empty stomach before you go to bed and/or first thing in the morning.<br />
<br />
Animal broths are also recommended to get these fat-soluble nutrients.&nbsp; However, that much broth is not as readily available on a daily basis (unless you have access to plenty of animal bones).&nbsp; This makes a good, quick, potent source of the nutrition you need to combat this acne problem.<br />
<br />
Be sure that you measure and keep track of your dose.&nbsp; You’ll find that an effective dose of vitamin A and EFA fats like fish oils and GLA will vary significantly from person to person.&nbsp; You need to play with this a bit and find the dose your body likes best.<br />
<br />
Good indicators are your hair, skin, and nails.&nbsp; Those tell you a bunch about what is going on internally.&nbsp; You should see a difference right away if you’re digesting and absorbing well.&nbsp; If you don’t see any difference try increasing your dose.<br />
<br />
Keep an eye out for any vitamin A toxicity symptoms if your dose gets too high.&nbsp; But because you are getting your vitamin A from whole-food sources I don’t really think it’s going to be a problem.&nbsp; Just be aware of the potential.<br />
<br />
On that note, one last thing you need to know about your cod liver oil dose.&nbsp; Increasing your cod liver oil dose will also increase the need for anti-oxidants in your system.&nbsp; So don’t go hog wild on it.&nbsp; Keep it to a few tablespoons a day.&nbsp; If you increase your dose be sure to also increase your intake of the anti-oxidant rich foods we just discussed. </p>

The best concentrated food source of GLA is evening primrose oil and borage oil.<br />

What is it?<br />

It’s the second most abundant mineral in your body.<br />
<br />
It is necessary for the body to convert short-chain fatty acids into longer chain fatty acids.&nbsp; Essential fatty acids play critical roles in hormonal balance.&nbsp; It’s also critical for your body to construct smooth skin.<br />
<br />
So you can see why it is a key mineral for acne sufferers.<br />
<br />
What is it?&nbsp; Magnesium, that’s what.<br />
<br />
Magnesium is found in food sources such as whole grains, seeds, and nuts. However, those foods in excess aren’t a good idea for acne sufferers for reasons we’ve covered.<br />
<br />
Anything with chlorophyll will be a good source of magnesium for acne sufferers.&nbsp; Chlorophyll is the part of any plant that makes it green.<br />
<br />
My preferred food source of magnesium for acne sufferers is dark green leafy vegetables.<br />
<br />
However, here’s the problem….<br />
<br />
The green leafy vegetables only have as much magnesium in them as was in the soil they grew in.&nbsp; But after years of farming the soil without replacing the mineral base becomes depleted, and as a result the plant become void of minerals.<br />
<br />
Because of this I feel it is very hard to get enough magnesium from food sources alone.&nbsp; This is another mineral I feel you are going to need to supplement with from a quality absorbable source.<br />
<br />
Common supplemental forms of magnesium include: <br />
<ul>
  <li>sulphate</li>
  <li>oxide</li>
  <li>citrate</li>
  <li>carbonate</li>
  <li>bicarbonate</li>
  <li>chloride. &nbsp;</li>
</ul>
These forms I feel are not absorbed that well.&nbsp; Chelated forms are better bets.&nbsp; These include:<br />
<ul>
  <li>alpha-ketogluconate</li>
  <li>aspartate</li>
  <li>glycinate</li>
  <li>lysinate</li>
  <li>orotate</li>
  <li>taurate</li>
</ul>
However I feel the most bio-available form are the effervescent from of these chelates.&nbsp; Effervescent forms are generally found in a powder from that reacts with water “fizzing”.<br />
<br />
Don’t take magnesium in a pill.&nbsp; It has been my experience they simply do not absorb well.&nbsp; The effervescent forms are what are best absorbed.<br />
<br />
Now magnesium is a strong alkalizer (which is a very good thing).&nbsp; Because of this you must take it on an empty stomach.&nbsp; If you take it on a full stomach it will dilute the acidity of your stomach digestive juices and hinder digestion.<br />
<br />
So take it on an empty stomach.&nbsp; Because it is very relaxing the best time to take it is before you go to bed.&nbsp; It will help you sleep.&nbsp; And alkalize your blood while you sleep.<br />
<br />
Here’s on last thing you need to know about magnesium.&nbsp; Magnesium has a tendency to loosen the bowel.&nbsp; Too much magnesium will cause diarrhea.&nbsp; So if you’re getting diarrhea then you need to lower your dose and/or choose a better absorbed form.<br />
<br />

This next nutrient like zinc also enhances your absorption and the ability for your body to use vitamin A.<br />
<br />
It is also one of the strongest anti-oxidants.&nbsp; But not just any anti-oxidant.&nbsp; This anti-oxidant protects lipids or fats from oxidation.&nbsp; It will protect the highly volatile cod liver oil and other EFA fats you are taking from oxidation.<br />
<br />
For these reason it plays another critical role for acne sufferers.<br />
<br />
This nutrient has been known as the “beauty vitamin” because of its ability to help protect your skin from oxidation (aging).<br />
<br />
What is it?<br />
<br />
It’s another fat-soluble vitamin known as vitamin E.<br />
<br />
Vitamin E is found in foods such as:
</p>
<ul>
  <li>wheat germ oil</li>
  <li>almonds</li>
  <li> sunflower seeds</li>
  <li> most raw nuts and seeds</li>
  <li>beans</li>
  <li>green leafy vegetables</li>
  <li>sweet potatoes</li>
  <li>yams</li>
  <li>blackstrap molasses</li>
  <li>raw honey</li>
</ul>
However, for other reasons I’m going to cover in later reports it’s best to get your vitamin E from food sources that are not also rich in omega 6 fats (most nuts and seeds and wheat germ oil), nor excess in sugars or starch.<br />
<br />
You can eat nuts and seeds and wheat germ oil, but for acne sufferers too much of these foods cause problems.&nbsp; The biggest of which is inflammation from excess omega 6 fats.&nbsp; Don’t worry about this now.&nbsp; I’ll cover it more later on.&nbsp; What is important for you to understand is that you can’t really rely on nuts and seeds (or even wheat germ oil) as your primary source of vitamin E.<br />
<br />
I’ll give you my preferred concentrated food source of vitamin E in a moment. &nbsp;<br />
<br />
Vitamin E come in 8 different forms known as tocopherols.&nbsp; These include alpha, beta, gamma, delta, zeta, theta, eta, and epsilon.<br />
<br />
Most vitamin supplements come in a form known as D-alpha tocopherol.&nbsp; However, vitamin E in whole-foods sources usually includes a mix of these tocopherols.&nbsp; This is another reason I prefer whole-food sources of vitamins whenever possible.&nbsp; That why you get a more natural spectrum of the nutrients.<br />
<br />
My preferred concentrated food source of vitamin E tocopherols for acne sufferers is red palm oil (not red palm kernel oil, they are 2 separate oils).<br />
<br />
Why red palm and not wheat germ oil?&nbsp; Well, wheat germ oil is a good fat.&nbsp; A little a day would give you loads of vitamin E.&nbsp; But the problem with it for acne sufferers is too much can cause an excess of the inflammatory omega 6 fats.&nbsp; And that can aggravate acne.<br />
<br />
Red palm does contain omega 6, but not nearly as much.&nbsp; It’s not only rich in vitamin E, but it’s also rich in carotenoids (vitamin a pre-cursors).&nbsp; And you already know just how important vitamin A is for acne sufferers. &nbsp;<br />
<br />
But because it’s the pre-cursor vitamin A carotenoids that do not build up in your systems you don’t run any risk of getting a toxic dose of vitamin A from the red palm oil.<br />
<br />
So you can see that red palm oil gives you not only vitamin E to protect cod liver oil and other EFA fats and maximizes the absorption of vitamin A, but also it gives you extra protection in a way ensuring that you get your necessary vitamin A dose without any risk of vitamin A toxicity.<br />
<br />
It also carries with it loads of other concentrated nutrients that will benefit your skin.<br />
<h3>Your best sources of red palm oil</h3>
What seems to be key is not heating the oil too much while extracting the oil.&nbsp; Too my heat can destroy the vitamin E.&nbsp; So you want to be sure to get a source that has been extracted at very low heat.<br />

Listen, I bought into all that crap to.&nbsp; The truth is not only is red palm oil good for you, but it enhances your metabolic rate, actually helping you lose weight.<br />

Tropical oils such as red palm oil and coconut fat where attacked viciously by the vegetable fat industry pushing canola oil, margarine, and other harmful fats on the public as “healthy” alternatives to saturated fats.<br />

You see vitamin E is a strong anti-oxidant for fats.&nbsp; It mops up those nasty free radicals that damage fats.&nbsp; The more easily oxidized fats (cod liver oil, fish oils, krill oil, any EFA fats) you ingest the more vitamin E your body is going to require to protect these fats. &nbsp;<br />
<br />
So by taking these highly oxidizable fats such as cod liver oil (which you should be, especially if you suffer acne) you’re increasing your body’s need for vitamin E.<br />
<br />
More volatile fats in your diet = greater need for vitamin E.<br />
<br />
So if you’re ingesting 1-2 tablespoons of cod liver oil&nbsp; per day I would suggest at least 400 I.U. per day of vitamin E.&nbsp; Now don’t stress about getting the numbers perfect.&nbsp; Just get it in the ballpark.<br />
<br />
A little wheat germ oil (a teaspoon or so, not more) combined with plenty of red palm oil per day (3-4 tablespoons or more per day) should be enough to give you your vitamin E dose.<br />
<br />
Find ways to incorporate it in your diet.&nbsp; I simply add it to foods.<br />
<h3>To recap…</h3>
So far you understand just how important vitamin A is.&nbsp; And some of your best sources as acne sufferer for vitamin A is cod liver oil and butter.<br />
<br />
You realize you can compound the effects of vitamin A with zinc and vitamin E.&nbsp; In addition to that vitamin E protects cod liver oil from oxidation. &nbsp;<br />
<br />
But I can’t get red palm oil or wheat germ oil.&nbsp; What about a supplement or pill?<br />
<br />
Well, if that is what you’re looking for there are a few things you need to be aware of…<br />
<h3>Supplemental vitamin E – What you need to know…</h3>
Vitamin E in pill form often comes in a synthetic form known as D1-alpha tocopherol. This in my opinion is toxic to your body.&nbsp; It was derived from what amounts to motor oil.&nbsp; The same stuff you pour in your engine. &nbsp;<br />
<br />
You can’t ingest oil that has not come from a plant or animal and expect to get what your body needs.&nbsp; You just can’t.<br />
<br />
So for all your vitamin sources avoid synthetic derivatives.&nbsp; Get whole-food sources.<br />
<br />
And if you can’t get that be sure the vitamin was derived from a plant or animal source NOT petroleum or petroleum by-products.<br />
<br />
Red palm and a little wheat germ oil are your best bets for whole-foods sources of vitamin E as an acne sufferer. If you can’t get that and you’re looking for a vitamin E supplement look for D-alpha tocopherol and/or a mixed tocopherol vitamin supplement NOT synthetic D1-alpha tocopherol.<br />
<h3>To summarize…</h3>
You need vitamin A as an acne sufferer. You can&nbsp; compound the effects of vitamin A with zinc and vitamin E. Your best sources of vitamin E are red palm oil and a little wheat germ oil (not more then a teaspoon a day).<br />

…Zinc is a vital mineral for acne sufferers.<br />
<br />
Why it helps is up for debate.&nbsp; Although those doing the studies I don&#8217;t think “get it”.&nbsp; All they know is that it seems to work.<br />
<br />
Why it works?&nbsp; Well first off its compounds the absorption of vitamin A.&nbsp; And you already know just how important vitamin A is for acne sufferers.<br />
<br />
I believe it is a key factor for enzyme activity in the body (300 or so).&nbsp; Among those include liver enzymes… The same enzyme system responsible for “deactivating” (also known as conjugation) hormones and filtering them from your system.<br />
<br />
So I believe it is key in that aspect of liver function.<br />
<br />
Zinc is also plays a key role in EFA absorption.&nbsp; (More about EFAs and hormones in later reports.)<br />
<br />
And it&#8217;s an important nutrient for skin and connective tissue repair.&nbsp; It&#8217;s also vital for the immune system.<br />
<br />
All of which are important factors for acne sufferers.<br />
<br />

<h3>The bottom line…</h3>
You need zinc, especially if you suffer from acne.<br />
<br />
What is zinc?<br />
<br />
It’s a mineral found in foods such as oysters, crabs, seafood, beef, eggs, beans, and whole grains.&nbsp; &nbsp;<br />
<br />
But here&#8217;s the problem…<br />
<br />
The richest sources of zinc, shellfish and seafood, are simply no longer safe to eat.&nbsp; Because of the burning of coal and other fossil fuels combined with a natural process known as bio-magnification these foods have become loaded with heavy metals.<br />
<br />
So how do you get this all important mineral in your diet?&nbsp; Well, whole-grains aren’t a good source for acne sufferers either (for reasons I’ll cover later).&nbsp; Eggs and beef are an option but I don’t think you can get the dose from those foods without eating too much (will cover this later to).<br />
<br />
For these reasons this is one nutrient for acne sufferers I feel you&#8217;re going to need to supplement. &nbsp;<br />
<br />
Supplemental zinc comes in several forms including zinc oxide, zinc citrate, zinc gluconate.<br />

<br />
<h3>Most of which are not absorbed very well</h3>
The ones that I feel is absorbed the best is zinc monomethionate and zinc picolinate.&nbsp; I would avoid zinc oxide at all costs.<br />
<br />
What should be your dose?&nbsp; Between 30 and 100 mg a day.<br />
<br />
Understand even the most absorbable forms can irritate your digestive tract.&nbsp; So don&#8217;t take too much at a time.&nbsp; You want to spread your dose thru the day.&nbsp; And generally you&#8217;ll want to take zinc with food.<br />

<p>The precursor to vitamin A it is beta carotene. Beta carotene comes from the carotenoid family.  Beta carotene is the plant source of vitamin A. However, in order for beta carotene to be utilized by your body it must first be converted by your liver into vitamin A. 
  
</p>
<p>Some may find they have a vitamin A deficiency even though they eat plenty of carrots.  This is because the beta carotene in the carrots isn&#8217;t being converted very well to vitamin A.
  
</p>
<p>For this among other reasons I suggest you include animal sources of vitamin A in your diet. </p>
<h3>My favorite sources of vitamin A for acne sufferers:</h3>
<p>(I prefer food sources over pills whenever possible.  Whole-food sources of nutrients are the way I believe you body is made to get nutrition and is best absorbed.  They come in a more complete nutrient spectrum and often include the all-important cofactors that enhance absorption.)
  
</p>
<p>Here are the best whole-food sources I’ve found:
</p>
<ul>
  <li>Cod liver oil
    
    <br />
    <br />
  </li>
  <li>Grass-fed, raw butter (if you can get it), conventional butter if you can’t. (More about the importance of grass-fed animal fat and hormonal balance in later reports.)  There are a few caveats about butter and androgenic hormones you need to know about.  We’ll cover later.  Please be sure to read the sections on butter and androgenic hormones.<br />
    <br />
  </li>
  <li>Red palm oil (not red palm kernel oil) (A rich source of the vitamin A precursor beta carotene but not vitamin A… more about that later)
  </li>
</ul>
<p>If you can&#8217;t get grass-fed, raw butter, then you can get many of the same benefits through a mix of cod liver / fish oils along with conventional butter.
  
  Grass-fed sources of butter are not only rich in vitamin A they’re also rich in another hormonally balancing nutrients we’ll cover in later reports.
  
</p>
<h3>Side note:</h3>
<p>Conventional butter that comes from cows being fed primarily grains as their diet does not contain this hormonally balancing nutrient.  However cod liver oil and fish oil has one aspect of it.  So if you can&#8217;t get grass-fed, raw butter you can still give much of the same hormonally balancing benefit using cod liver oil along with conventional butter. 
  
</p>
<p>I’m getting ahead of myself.  We’ll cover this all-important, and so very little understood link to hormones in later reports in detail. So stay with me.  And please just take it one step at a time.  Don’t get overwhelmed. We’ll bring it all together in the final report.</p>
<h3>Possible problems with cod liver oil – what you need to know</h3>
<p>Here&#8217;s the deal, cod liver oil it is one of you of most potent, bio-available available sources of vitamin A.  But it has a few problems…
</p>
<ol>
  <li>It oxidizes, or goes rancid fast.<br />
  </li>
  <li>It can contain heavy metals.</li>
</ol>
<p>Both these problems can be overcome with quality manufacturing.  If the oil is processed in a low-oxygen environment oxidation is minimized. 
  
</p>
<p>Through process of vacuum distillation heavy metals can be removed without harming the oil.
  
</p>
<p>So be sure you get a brand that&#8217;s vacuum-distilled and processed with low oxygen.
</p>
<p>
  Lastly, some companies are deodorizing the oil.  This removes the vitamin A and D.  Then they are adding back synthetic versions of these vitamins to meet consumer demand. <strong>This will not work.</strong> Synthetics cause serious problems in my opinion.  You need to get natural forms of vitamin A.
  
</p>
<p><strong>Be sure you check with the manufacture and know what you are getting.</strong> Don’t waste your money on an inferior brand.
  
</p>

<h3>Vitamin A toxicity</h3>
<p>My observation is that most acne sufferers require greater doses of vitamin A then non-acne sufferers.&nbsp;&nbsp; However vitamin A can become toxic in too high of doses.&nbsp;</p>
<p>If you ingest too much vitamin A or vitamin A rich foods the vitamin A was slowly build up in your system and it could reach a toxic level.
  
</p>
<p>Toxicity symptoms include:
</p>
<ul>
  <li>Fatigue</li>
  <li>Headaches</li>
  <li>Muscle and joint pain</li>
  <li>Flaking skin</li>
  <li>Nausea and vomiting  </li>
</ul>
<p>Chronic toxicity can result in liver damage.
  
</p>
<p>No worries.&nbsp; It doesn&#8217;t happen overnight.&nbsp; It takes months and even years of chronic overuse of vitamin A to develop toxicity symptoms.
  
</p>
<p>Now I’ve seen studies that suggest amounts as little as 50,000 IU per day over a period of 18-24 months resulted in toxicity in some individuals.
  
</p>
<p>I’ve also seen studies with doses of 1,000,000 IU per day for five years with no toxicity at all.
  
</p>
<p>Why such a discrepancy?
  
</p>
<p>I believe it has a lot to do with the form that was used and whether other key vitamin A cofactors were present in the individual.
  <br style="font-weight: bold; " />
  </p>
<p><span style="font-weight: bold; ">Example: </span>Vitamin C helps prevent vitamin A toxicity (among other things). Vitamins E and the mineral zinc compound the absorption of vitamin A.
  
</p>
<p>So what’s the bottom line?
  
</p>
<p>As an acne sufferer you’re going to need a higher dose of vitamin A then the usual.
  
</p>
<p>To prevent any toxicity I suggest first using the whole-food sources of vitamin A.&nbsp; And that&#8217;s what you’ll be doing by adding butter and cod liver oil to your diet.
  
</p>
<p>In addition to that, you can compound the absorption of vitamin A by including some synergistic cofactors.&nbsp; That way you can take less vitamin A and still get the therapeutic and anti-acne effects.
  
</p>
<p>Lastly, the precursor to vitamin A also known as beta carotene doesn’t build up to toxic levels in your system.&nbsp; By including some beta carotene in your diet you’ll be giving yourself an extra boost of potential vitamin A without any risks of toxicity.&nbsp; That&#8217;s one of the reasons I suggest red palm oil for acne sufferers (among other things we’ll get to later).
  
</p>
<p>So how much do you need to take?&nbsp; Well, that’s going to vary depending on your weight and how well you absorb. For now I suggest you keep your dose to roughly less then 50,000 IU.
  
</p>
<p>One tablespoon of quality cod liver oil contains about 21,000 – 36,000 IU of vitamin A.
  
</p>
<p>A tablespoon of butter has about 400 IU of vitamin A.&nbsp; This is going to vary a bunch depending on the quality of the diet of the cows the milk came from.
  
</p>
<p>So for now, I suggest you ingest 1-2 tablespoons of cod liver oil daily and lots of butter.&nbsp; Several tablespoons a day would not be too much.&nbsp; Evidence suggests butter and cod liver oil work synergistically together so include both in your diet.</p>
<h3>But isn’t butter unhealthy?</h3>
<p>I’m sure you’ve been brainwashed into believing butter causes heart-disease and is a “bad” fat.
  
</p>
<p>Trust me, that’s all BULL!&nbsp; Total bull pontificated by the same people that tell you bastardized fats like margarine are “healthy” fats.&nbsp;&nbsp; 
  
</p>
<p>Now think about that…&nbsp; 
  
</p>
<p>The same people telling you a hydrogenated, artificially created fat like margarine is healthy, and a natural, vitamin-rich fat like butter is “unhealthy”.&nbsp; Do you really think you can trust these people? They don’t have a clue.&nbsp; Don’t listen to them.&nbsp; Just trust me on this one.
  
</p>
<p>Butter is a very healthy fat, and one of your best sources of concentrated fat-soluble vitamins that are so important for healthy skin and healthy hair.
  
</p>
<p>In generations gone by when we had far fewer degenerative disease butter was consumed in liberal amounts.&nbsp; Heart disease skyrocketed with the promotion and use of hydrogenated vegetable fats as butter replacements.
  
</p>
<p>So don’t buy into the bull.&nbsp; Include butter in your diet.&nbsp; The only factor you need to be aware of is not to heat the butter too much.&nbsp; Oxidized butter is not good.&nbsp; And heating it tends to oxidize it.&nbsp;&nbsp; (The best fat to use for cooking in my opinion would be coconut fat.&nbsp; It’s more stable at heat.)
  
</p>
<p>Butter is good for you and grass-fed butter will improve your skin, your hair, and it will help your acne symptoms.
  
</p>
<p>Just try it.&nbsp; See what adding butter does to the health of your hair and skin.</p>
<h3>Butter and androgenic hormones</h3>
<p>There is something you need to be aware of with butter and all animal fats with regards to acne.
  
</p>
<p>Your body makes hormones from fat.&nbsp; And it makes the all-important hormone for proper sexual maturation, testosterone, from saturated animal fats.
  
</p>
<p>So the best way to hormonally castrate someone is to take away all saturated animal fat from their diet.&nbsp; Both men and women need saturated fat to create the proper hormones for your body to function.&nbsp; Both men and women need testosterone to function properly.
  
</p>
<p>That’s the facts of the matter.
  
However, here’s the deal…&nbsp; If your have been on a diet low in saturated fat and low in animal fats (which I do not recommend), your body has learned to compensate for that </p>
<p>becoming more efficient at creating these all important hormones on less fat.
  
</p>
<p>Once you start adding to these all-important fats to your diet your body suddenly has more of the basic building blocks to make these critical hormones.
  
</p>
<p>What will happen then is you will experience a temporary surge in testosterone.&nbsp; It will take a bit of time for your body to adjust and find balance again.&nbsp; While its’ rebalancing you may notice an aggravation in your acne.&nbsp; It’s not always the case, but it is a possibility.
  
</p>
<p>If that happens understand what is going on.&nbsp; Stick it out.&nbsp; Don’t make the mistake of thinking butter is the culprit.&nbsp; It’s NOT.&nbsp; What the culprit is was your years of lack of the critical nutrition for your body to make the hormones it needs to function properly.
  
</p>
<p>There will be a rebound and rebalancing period.&nbsp; 
  
  So that highlights another point.&nbsp; Try to keep your dose of these fats fairly consistent.&nbsp; That way your body has an easier job of making hormones in balance to start with.</p>
<h3>But isn’t excess testosterone the cause of my acne problems?</h3>
<p>No, that’s not what’s going on.&nbsp; What is happening is your overwhelming your body’s natural hormonal regulating systems.&nbsp; It’s not excess testosterone that is the problem per say.&nbsp; You need testosterone.&nbsp; Study after study has shown low levels of testosterone equate with a host of health problems.
  
</p>
<p>The problem is when that testosterone is not deactivated (conjugated by your liver) and filtered from the blood after it’s had its biological effects. (This is the same root problem with male hormonal driven health problems such as prostate problems, hormonally driven hair-loss, prostate cancers, excess body-hair, and others).&nbsp; We’ll cover this critical aspect of hormonal balance in later reports.
  
</p>
<p>For now you just need to understand what’s going on once you start adding these all important fat soluble vitamin sources to your diet.</p>
<h3>Cod liver oil and vitamin D</h3>
<p>One the last thing you need to know regarding cod liver oil…
  
</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re getting lots of sun you&#8217;re getting loads of vitamin D.&nbsp; Your body converts sunlight into vitamin D.&nbsp; Too little vitamin D causes your bones to lose calcium.&nbsp; Too much vitamin D causes over calcification.
  
</p>
<p>But here&#8217;s the deal, cod liver oil is also rich in vitamin D.&nbsp; So if you&#8217;re getting lots of sun and your ingesting cod liver oil it is possible that you might get too much vitamin D.&nbsp; So if this is you, cut back a bit on your cod liver dose when you&#8217;re getting lots of sun.&nbsp; Make up the difference with other vitamin A rich foods.
  
</p>
<p>On days when you don&#8217;t get sun cod liver oil is your best defense against a vitamin D deficiency.</p>
<h3>But I&#8217;m vegan. I don&#8217;t eat animal products like you baby-seal-clubbing, fur-wearing, dolphin killers!</h3>
<p>Listen, if you are vegan I feel for you. I really do. I don&#8217;t like the idea of having to kill something so that I can live.&nbsp; But you know, those carrots were living to.&nbsp; And they had to be killed when you ate them.
  
</p>
<p>The reality it’s very hard to be vegan and get the all-important fat-soluble vitamins that you as an acne sufferer so desperately need.&nbsp; I’m not saying it can’t be done, but it is very hard to do.
  
</p>
<p>Having said that.&nbsp; As a vegan you’ve got one thing going for you.&nbsp; You’re not clogging yourself with conventional dairy…
  
</p>
<p>…I would not advise any acne sufferer to ingest pasteurized, bastardized, grain-fed, steroid and anti-biotic laced factory-farm milk and milk products.
  
</p>
<p>Those clearly I can say cause congestion and allergens in the system that aggravate acne. 
  
</p>
<p>But please hear me…&nbsp; 
  
</p>
<p>I believe after much research and testing the problem is not with dairy products, the problem is how they are bastardized, denatured, and destroyed through pasteurization and other factory farming atrocities. 
  
</p>
<p>Once exposed to heat during pasteurization the delicate amino acids found in the milk are damaged and become “gluey”.&nbsp; As a results they not only congest but become extraordinarily hard to digest.&nbsp; This leads to allergies among other things.&nbsp; Even calves die when fed pasteurized milk.&nbsp; This should tell you something.
  
</p>
<p>But this isn’t the case if you can get raw or cultured dairy. Raw dairy, raw butter, raw yogurt, and the very best food for acne sufferers raw, raw non-pasteurized cultured goat milk kefir get them.&nbsp; Include them in your diet…
  
</p>
<p>… Those are readily digested and carry with them all the important fats and fat-soluble vitamins acne sufferers so desperately need.
  
</p>
<p>The key is to get raw, grass-fed dairy.&nbsp; Goat milk dairy I believe is the most readily used by humans and I prefer that to cow dairy if you can get it.
  
</p>
<p>But I digress…
  
</p>
<p>I believe vegans, if not careful develop chronic fat-soluble vitamin deficiencies.&nbsp; And if not careful end up ingesting too much starch, sugars, and omega 6 fats.&nbsp; All of which has a tendency to aggravate acne.&nbsp; That I believe is why you see so many vegans with bad skin and hair.
  
</p>
<p>So if you’re vegan you’ve got to be much more diligence.
  
</p>
<p>If that&#8217;s you the next best source of vitamin A is beta carotene. However I don&#8217;t think you can eat enough carrots to make up for the concentrated sources of vitamin A you would get from cod liver oil, butter, and other animal fats. 
  
</p>
<p>The best concentrated food source I found for that is red palm oil (not red palm kernel).&nbsp; However, even with that it is likely you’re going to need to supplement to get the dose you need for therapeutic anti-acne effects.
  
</p>
<p>If you’re going to supplement with a pill be sure to get natural beta carotene, not synthetic.
  
</p>
<p>But please consider at least adding butter to your diet (nothing had to die to give you butter).&nbsp; Do it for a few weeks, and judge by the health of your skin, your hair, and your nails.&nbsp; (You can always go back to being a strict vegan).
  
</p>
<p>That way you don&#8217;t end up with a bad skin you see in so many health food store patrons. 
  
</p>
